El Pulpo
'The Octopus' rules for many reasons:
He is so fast on that damn thing his tentacle-like arms become a blur before your eyes.
He has the coolest 80s looking MPC sample trigger pad thing.
He samples his own voice live. And dog woof sounds.
He does Champeta-Trance.
Champeta music sounds like kuduro sometimes.
The Afro Colombians living in Cartagena and Barranquilla on Colombia's northern carribean coast make Champeta music.Traditionally a mix of African zouk and Tropical latin rhythms, it recently seems to be getting a lo-fi electronic overhawl (read as: RAVE) and is even getting blended with Trance and reggaeton. Don't know if I could listen to it everyday but definitely feeling the DIY aesthetics a la baile funk.

awesome. and i definitely hear you on the kuduro/funk comparisons. this mode of performance is not at all unlike baile style.
I hear you Wayne. There's some really interesting clips on you tube about this scene.
congratulations for your awaiting arrival by the way. Nice one.
When I here the Champeta trance clip I cant help but wonder how long it will take for Diplo to hype the living daylights out of El pulpo?
It would be funny/bizarre to see El Pulpo signed to Mad Decent with dubstep remixes or something!
